Dear
Members of CHSEPTA,
With
the 2008-2009 school year coming to a close, I would like to take
this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported Cherry Hill
SEPTA over the past two years. Naomi Weiss, our outgoing
president has been a valuable source of knowledge and information
and a tireless advocate for classified children. She has
served on the board for the past 4 years.
I
would also like to thank Bob Bourbon, Sheri Klein, Roberta
Tanenbaum, Kathleen Dallara-Pennell, and Deb Tremper for the
contributions on the executive board during the course of the last
2 years. All who served did so with love and concern for
classified children. Critical to CHSEPTA’s success was
that people were willing to take risk, to volunteer, and to pour
their hearts into children with special needs and learning
disabilities and their families.
We
also had volunteers that gave selflessly of their time and talent.
Michelle Bourbon was major force in our fundraising efforts.
And, Arlene Rosenzweig served as Kingston’s liaison with energy
and creativity.
We
had a significant number of individuals who made charitable
donations to CHSEPTA. Thank you for your kindness and
generosity. Your donations helped to cover the costs of our
social events and contributed to our ability to make a donation to
Rosa to fund a grant for a Legos club for students with Aspergers
Syndrome.
I
am pleased to welcome the 2009-2010 CHSEPTA board: Andre
Faust, as Treasurer; Cristina Silva, as Recording Secretary; Linda
Lance, as Corresponding Secretary; and Robert Williams, as the
Membership Chair. Thanks also to Jeffrey Podowitz who will
be returning as our budget representative.
The
board also extends a warm welcome to Joanne Rongione. Joanne
has volunteered to serve as CHSEPTA’s Social/Fundraising Chair.
Please consider volunteering on the Social/Fundraising Committee.
CHSEPTA needs your support.
We
currently have a vacancy in Vice President position.
Interested candidates should email me.
We
are looking forward to 2009-2010 with enthusiasm and are in the
process of planning
new
and exciting topics and activities. It is our hope to have a
strong focus on reaching out to each school through the use of
liaisons for the up coming year. To do this, we are seeking
a School Liaison Chair to
attend our board meetings, orchestrate communication and
facilitate discussions amongst the school liaisons. If you
are interested in this role or in being your school’s liaison to
CHSEPTA, please contact me as soon as possible.
Wishing
you have a happy, healthy and sunshiny summer!
Best
regards,
Nancy
Muldowney
